She lifted her glass in a toast. "To Port Belle."
Charlie reciprocated and watched her slender hand snake across the table to ensnare his.
"So tell me, money man" she teased, "how goes the world of big bucks? Talk to Mama Masters about money; it's a turn-on."
"I like your world better than mine. The people that come to you come to spend money. The people that come to me come to borrow it. I always have to wonder whether I'll ever see mine again. On balance, I think you've got the better of the two deals."
Kristen smiled. "It's not my fault God made women vain. Nor is it my fault that men have this thing about their women being beautiful. When most men I know undress their little playmates, they like to feel nice things between their fingers, things like silk and lace and mink. And, my darling, just in case you haven't noticed, silk, lace and mink aren't the kind of things men bargain hunt for."
It was Charlie's turn to smile. Kristen was sending him a message, and it was coming through loud and clear.
The lady's hand pulled away and picked up the menu. "How about it? What looks good to you?"
